There's a long list of great activities
to do in West Dennis, Cape Cod, during
the Autumn months. One of the best reasons to visit Cape Cod this time of year is to view New England's
spectacular Fall foliage. You won't see such beautiful colors anywhere else- Go ahead and BE a
'leaf-peeper'!
Believe it or not, since the summer high-season is through, there are fewer people in the area, less traffic, and lower prices.
It's more calm and serene during the Autumn...the perfect time to go for a brisk, crisp walk either
in the morning during sunrise, or at night along the beach. It is perfect weather to throw on a sweater, have a glass of wine,
and watch the sunset on our deck with a good book, a loved one, or both.
Also, there is an astounding meteor shower this
Fall (in November), an especially delightful sight to behold.
During the Autumn days, the water may still be warm enough to have some fun!
Apple, pumpkin, and squash picking are in season, so spend the afternoon with the kids at Tobey Farm in Dennis, and check out the beautiful Fall harvests (and catch a scary hayride!). There are
vibrant cranberry bogs nearby, now in season, so catch an official bog tour at Georgetown Cranberry
in Harwich (5 mins away!).
Autumn is a great time to relive the Pilgrim's first Thanksgiving at Plimoth
Plantation--this is a great day trip best seen this time of year to capture the smells and sights of colonial America.
Stop by the Truro Winery and Vineyards, in North
Truro, and experience their fine wines, stroll through their vineyards, and picnic on their beautiful
grounds.
Perhaps for dinner one crisp evening, make a reservation at the Lighthouse
Inn for a lobster dinner overlooking the water; the Inn is quite close to the Ocean Breeze cottage, and the site of
Cape Cod's first lighthouse.
If you want a tasty treat, stop by the Sundae School,
for Cape Cod's BEST homemade ice cream-take a pie home as well!
Lastly, Cape Cod is the perfect place to start your holiday
shopping! Visit one of the several fabulous Christmas Tree Shops in the area, or browse
any of the quaint shops in the area that have collectibles, crafts, antiques. Also, there are museums and art galleries very
closeby.
